Article : INFLUENCE OF SOCIOLOGICAL FACTORS ON ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENT TEACHERS IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION

Abstract : Education becomes the sum total of experience that the child receives inside the school or outside, through the library, the play ground, the workshop or through other agencies. Education is the social experience through which children learn themselves, develop interpersonal skills and acquire basic knowledge. Performance of a Teacher in the job is the result of the interaction among the variables related to his Professional, Sociological and Psychological background. So the topic was coined Influence of Sociological Factors on Achievement of student teachers in college of education. The main Objectives 0f this study are i) to measure the level of the influence of Sociological factors, such as Parents Education, Parents Occupation and Parents Income on Academic Achievement of Student Teachers in Colleges of Education ii) to find out the significant relationship on Academic Achievement of Student Teachers in Colleges of Education with respect to Sociological Factors.iii) to find out the Significant difference between the Parents Education, Parents Occupation and Family Income. Normative Survey Method was adopted for present study. Tool was developed by the Investigator. Achievement Test was developed for all the three core subjects such as Human development and Child Psychology, Education in Emerging Indian Society (EEIS) and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) based on the College of Education Syllabus. Different statistical measures were used in the study for finding out solutions to the problems. Mean, Standard Deviation and t' test were used to determine. As a result Influence of Sociological Factors is found to be average. Mean Achievement Score of the subject EEIS among Student-Teachers of Agricultural Parents are higher than Student-Teachers of Daily wages parents.
