Article : CONSTRUCTIVIST APPROACH IN EDUCATION: A CASE STUDY

Abstract : This article reports a case study of Paramlakshya World School which has incorporated constructivist approach in the teaching learning process. The school is located in a rural area in Rajasthan which shares its boundaries with Rewari District. The school aims to provide concept based education to bridge the gap between the students of urban and rural area. Data for the study included interviews with principal and teachers, classroom observations and artifacts from school. Data analysis sought to identify the constructivist pedagogy in the classrooms .The results are based on two aspects of constructivist pedagogy: interdisciplinary approach and physical and social decentering of the classroom. The analysis revealed that teachers play role of mentor and facilitator in concept building process. During the learning process the activity had always preceded concept.
