Article : SELF CONCEPT AND TEACHING COMPETENCY OF STUDENT - TEACHERS IN TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTE

Abstract : The present study has been conducted to investigate the Self Concept and Teaching Competency of student-teachers. Normative survey method has been used in the present investigation. Random sampling technique has been adopted in the selection of the sample of as many as 220 student- teachers Cuddalore district of Tamilnadu, India. The finding of the study shows that the student teachers have high self concept and shown high teaching competency. There is no significant difference between male and female Student-Teachers in respect of their self concept and their teaching competency. Finally this study has also shown that correlation between Self Concept and Teaching Competency is positive but they are not significant.
