Abstract : Every nation requires quality education for its development. Quality education plays a vital role in developing all round personality of students who are future citizens of the country. The aim of this research paper is to study the quality of teaching and learning in teacher training colleges in Chennai. The researcher adopted random stratified survey method for the study. Data were collected from 757 students of Government, aided and self-financing colleges in Chennai. In order to access the effectiveness of the Questionnaire, a pilot study was conducted for quality of teaching and learning resources. A suitable scoring procedure with five point scale was done with positive and negative of 40 statements. Major findings of this study shows that there is significant difference in the quality of Teaching and learning based on the type of management, type of colleges, type of governing body, NAAC accreditation and year of establishment. ANOVA test revealed that there is significant difference between the mean scores of quality of teaching and learning resources based on type of management and type of college. Quality of teaching and learning resources is good in NAAC accredited, autonomous as well as in colleges established above 50 years.
