Abstract : Teaching may be regarded as a profession in its own sense and one that demands a great deal of professional expertise. Professional Ethics is the professional obligation that a professional abides by. Teachers need to do several works apart from their teaching like counseling, completion and maintenance of various records, conducting and participating in inter and intra-school exhibitions, workshops, seminars, functions like Sports Day, Annual Day and so on. This demands a great deal of Professional Ethics and a high standard of competence in various fields. This research article is an attempt to assess the Professional Ethics of Teachers and to compare with their gender, locality and subject. Descriptive Survey method has been adopted using stratified random sampling technique. A sample of 300 teachers has been chosen for the study. Professional Ethics Scale has been developed and standardized by the investigator. The study has revealed that the level of Professional Ethics among school teachers is moderate and there is a significant difference in the Professional Ethics of teachers based on their gender, locality and subject. Teachers should be a role-model to the students and follow the ethical code of conduct.
