Abstract : Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members. In the social sciences, a larger society often evinces stratification and dominance patterns in subgroups. Culture is one of the dominant factors which influence the human existence. Culture gives content and direction to the manner in which the human body will develop as a person. Culture extends the power and senses that enables him to adapt to his environment and make him what he is. The study thus seeks to throw light on the cultural trend in the state of Sikkim in India and its impact on the education system.
