Article : GENDER DISTRIBUTION AMONG DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCHOOL TEACHER IN INDIA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO WEST BENGAL: AN ANALYSIS

Abstract : In the present study, the researcher intended to examine gender distribution among various types of school teachers in India with special reference to West Bengal. Though India is moving fast towards the digital cashless society under the leadership of Honorable PM Sri. Narendra Modi, still, India is facing the problem of gender disparity and differences in every field of life. Gender disparity or difference is one of the burning issue in India since the medieval age. The major objectives of the study are as i) to examine the levels of gender disparity prevailed among various types of school teachers in India in their distribution, ii) to examine the trends of gender disparity among various types of school teachers in India in terms of numbers, iii) to study the gender distribution among the school teachers in West Bengal, and iii) to find out the probable reasons and solution for measures. The whole study is based on secondary data sources which have been derived from various Govt. agencies and departments like Census of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) and DISE and SEMIS Report on West Bengal etc. The interpretation of data has been done verbally from the tables. The result of the present study showed that some-how in every types of school (primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary) in India including West Bengal unequal gender distribution prevailed against one particular section of our society. The present study may help in understanding the gender distribution of school teacher in real ground and, how and in what way unequal gender distribution is prevailed and it may also show the path to remove gender disparity from the unequal distribution of school teachers in India.
