Article : COMPARATIVE STUDY OF HEALTH RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IN WORKING AND NON-WORKING PREGNANT WOMEN

Abstract : In the present study researcher examined the health related quality of life between working and non-working pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time of intense physical change. It is very important for women to have good health related quality of life during pregnancy. A study was made on purposive sample and the total sample consisted of 60 pregnant women (30 working and 30 non-working pregnant women). The tool used in research was SF-36 (Stewart and Ware, 1992). Mann Whitney U test was used to see the difference in health related quality of life between working and non-working pregnant women. The result indicated that there is significant difference (Zu = 6.609, p< 0.01) in health related quality of life between working and non-working pregnant women. The results revealed that the working pregnant women have good health related quality of life (M = 63.73) in comparison to non-working pregnant women (M =47.37).
