Abstract : Education plays an important role in shaping of individual’s personality, attitude and career. Education is both eugenically & personally an indispensible part of human life. Attainment of educational objectives are been obtained frequently under the guidance of educators. With the change of time and value erosion among people in general and teachers in particular, is a concern in today’s teachers’ attitude towards teaching profession. The teaching profession demands a clear set of goals, love for profession and obviously a more favorable attitude towards the professions. Thus, in this study an attempt has been made to find out the level of student teachers’ attitude with special reference to their teaching profession in relation to social & psychological, economic, and co-curricular activities. Sample: total of fifty B.Ed student teachers of second semesters were used. The tool used for the study was ‘attitude scale towards teaching’, developed by Dr. (Mrs.) Ummen Kulsum. In order to analyze the data, Z-score in terms of standard deviations from the mean was used. Results: with the help of statistical analysis it was found that student teachers’ attitude towards teaching profession in relation to various variables to be ‘extremely negative’, and ‘above average positive’ respectively, in the seven levels of hierarchical order. The study was delimited to West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya.
