Article : EFFECTIVENESS OF PARA TEACHERS (SIKSHA SAHAYAKS) IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OF ODISHA

Abstract : This study is concerned with the teacher effectiveness of 300 Siksha Sahayaks (para teachers) of coastal districts of Odisha. It is a survey type of research. Three tools were used to collect data.Case study was conducted on eight Siksha Sahayaks and both qualitative and quantitative techniques were adopted to analyze the data. The main findings of the study was that both trained and high qualified women Siksha Sahayaks are more effective than trained and high qualified male Siksha Sahayaks. It has also been found that not a single Siksha Sahayaks are satisfied with the way they are paid and the amount being paid to them. There is high dissatisfaction among these Para teachers in primary schools leading to their ineffectiveness.
