Abstract : The present study was undertaken with the following objectives. (1) To study the relationship between socioeconomic status and the job satisfaction of the junior college teachers. (2) To study the relationship between professional interest and the job satisfaction of the junior college teachers. (3) To study the job satisfaction of the male and female teachers of the junior colleges. The descriptive survey method was adopted to meet the objectives of the study. The investigator selected 100 college teachers from 30 junior colleges of the Kamrup district of Assam (F= 54, M=46). The random sampling method was adopted. Job Satisfaction Scale (JSS) by Amar Singh and T.R. Sharma, revised (1999) was used to study the job satisfaction of the junior college teachers. Socio -Economic Status Scale (SESS) by Rajeev Verma, revised (2001) was used to measure the socio-economic status and a self made questionnaire for measuring professional Interest was used.
