Abstract : This investigation was carried out with the main objective of identifying the professional stress of married women high school teachers. This study was carried out on 300 married women high school teachers in and around Madurai city. The investigator adopted the Professional Stress Inventory developed and validated by A.K.Srivastava and A.P.Singh for the study and also a self-made personal data sheet to collect the data. She has applied descriptive analysis, differential analysis and relational analysis. This study reveals the existence of moderate levels of professional stress among the married women teachers. It was also found that there is no significant difference in professional stress among married women high school teachers with regard to their educational qualification, age, family type, number of children, designation, type of school, teaching experience and nature of employment. Further, significant association was found between the levels of professional stress, and type of school, nature of employment of married women high school teachers. This research suggests the need for complete support and encouragement to working women teachers both from their family and the school.
