Abstract : Exam stress is a common phenomenon that affects students of all ages. It is completely normal to feel anxious or stressed before and during an exam, as exams are often seen as a test of one’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. However, when stress becomes overwhelming, it can have negative effects on a student’s performance and overall well-being. In this article, exam stress of high school students were studied by normative survey method. Objective of the study is to find out the relationship between achievement and exam stress among high school students. Achievement scores were taken from academic records of the participants. Examination stress scale by Dr.K.Saraladevi (1979) was used as the research tool. Random sampling technique was used in the selection of the sample. The sample consists of as many as 300 high school students studying in high schools located in Cuddalore District of Tamilnadu, India. Descriptive and differential analysis were applied to find out the relationship between achievement and exam stress among high school students. Findings of the study revealed that high school students are having high level of exam stress. Remedial measures to reduce the exam stress were suggested in conclusion.
