Article : TEACHERS’ PERSPECTIVE TOWARDS IMPLEMENTATION OF ART-INTEGRATED LEARNING (AIL) FOR QUALITY EDUCATION AT ELEMENTARY STAGE

Abstract : Art-integrated learning (AIL) is an innovative approach that ensures the utilization of various forms of art as the basis for learning of concepts across subjects. NEP 2020 has also recommended the implementation of AIL in school curriculum to create an experiential and joyful learning in classroom. The present paper makes an attempt to explore the perception of teachers towards the implementation of AIL at the elementary stage with reference to joyful learning, hands on learning, adopting ice-breaking strategies, developing arts and aesthetics skills. Case study method was used by engaging the 30 teachers from the Saralsingh cluster of Chilika block as the sample of study. The data were collected from the teachers by using Google form questionnaire & phonetic interaction and analyzed by using percentage analysis as well as descriptive form. The result revealed that the majority of the teachers have favourable perception towards the implementation of Art-Integrated Learning. The teachers have a strong conviction for encouragement of ice-breaking strategies, collaborative learning, multigrade classroom, experiential learning during classroom transaction processes. The study has suggested the orientation of elementary teachers in developing art and aesthetic skills by using different art forms as pedagogical tools.
